While the porcelain is still in it's unfired stage a very small wire tool is used to carve the wood grain into each and every piece to make it a one of a kind. Still before firing the silhouettes are hand painted with a jet black paint that penetrates the porcelain and become permanent.
After firing the wood grain areas are colored with oils to give it the look of real wood veneer and sealed with a brush on sealer that allows the remaining areas to stay raw porcelain for a nice contrast in feel and texture. Finally the piece is decorated with leather strips to give it a rustic and yet very elegant look. |
